🤑 Win $250 for sharing your work & money stories

I made a writing contest!

I’m so excited to share this opportunity with you today!

This month, I’m launching the first in a series of writing contests to showcase and pay you for your writing through my new site Healthy Rich.

Healthy Rich shines a spotlight on the diversity of our relationships with work and money through essays written by budding writers whose voices we don’t hear enough of in personal finance, like people of color, women, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities.

This contest is your invitation to be part of the conversation.

Submit your essay on the theme of “Work and Womanhood”

Women, this inaugural contest is for you!

How has your identity as a woman affected your career, jobs and/or your relationship with money?

We’re looking for personal essays of between 500 and 2,000 words written by trans and cis women writers age 18+, regardless of your publication history or experience level. Submissions are open July 15 through Sep. 15, 2021 — so get writing and mark your calendar!

Here’s what you can win:

The 1st-place winner will get $250, and 2nd place will get $75. 1st and 2nd place and up to 10 finalists will be published at the Healthy Rich blog, and all winners get a mentor session and lifetime membership in our community of contributors.

Plus: I know the effort that goes into just writing and submitting to contests, so everyone who submits walks away with a perk — all entrants get a free one-year subscription to the paid version of this newsletter, Field Notes (if you’re already subscribed, your next year is free!).

More than just another clip

When I was a green writer, a chance to get published and get paid was incredible (and uncomfortably rare). But a single win is fleeting, and I know it takes a lot more than a few assignments to build a career as a writer.

Good editors and a strong network have made all the difference in turning my writing interest into a sustainable career. So I created an opportunity with those elements baked in. That means you get published, get paid, connect with a mentor and join a community that helps you take the next steps on your path as a writer.

So publication with Healthy Rich is more than just another clip — it’s a way to build your career.

I can’t wait to read your story!
